BSH is in the process of transforming the classic linear economic model into a circular system. This is associated with numerous - often fundamental - changes affecting the manufacturing of our products, their usage and their take-back and recycling. BSH is driving this development forward in order to offer consumers high quality products that are as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible.

Certifications for Production and Environmental Protection.

PC老群,(QQPC28老群)BSH's globally established environmental management stands for efficient and environmentally-compatible production methods. It is also the foundation for the safety and health of our employees, and the commitment to quality of our brands. "An integrated product policy and consistent product responsibility mean that only manufacturers who consider production and usage aspects right from the development stage, and about disposal during the purchasing process can vouch for the overall quality and environmental compatibility of their products." BSH practices this principle by taking full account of all product-related aspects and life cycle phases during the development of its products. A design change, for example, must not give rise to any additional environmental impact during manufacture. Regular certification of development and production processes according to ISO 14001 (environmental protection) and ISO 50001 (energy) contributes to the good reputation of the company and the products among customers, suppliers and the general public.

All BSH factories are certified according to the international ISO 14001 standard for environmental management systems. All production sites in the European Union and our site in Turkey were already certified in accordance with the ISO 50001 standard.

Design for Environment.

We develop and manufacture our products in a way that ensures they are safe, environmentally friendly and economical. Our products do not endanger the health and safety of people, and they consciously minimize the environmental impact during the entire life cycle, including recycling and disposal.

PC老群,(QQPC28老群)To achieve this goal, we consciously avoid critical substances in new products and exclude hazardous substances from our supply chain.

PC老群,(QQPC28老群)The environmental compatibility of products is an important aspect throughout the entire product life cycle. This also applies to minimizing the follow-on costs when disposing of old appliances. The local BSH sales organizations adhere strictly to the applicable legal requirements in this respect.

PC老群,(QQPC28老群)Our life cycle observations clearly indicate that environmental impact is higher during the usage phase than in the other phases of a product life cycle due to energy, water and detergent consumption. That's why BSH gives top priority to developing energy-efficient and water-conserving appliances.

BSH observes legal obligations in relation to substance restrictions. It also makes sure that specific hazardous substances classed as harmful to health and the environment, and hence undesirable in home appliances, are avoided – even if no statutory substance restrictions are in force. The basic prerequisite for recycling management is that only clean materials are used – materials without critical additives or heavy metals. In terms of product design, BSH is therefore breaking new ground to close the material cycle and protect important and valuable resources for further use. Furthermore, BSH promotes environmentally-compatible recycling technology through standardization. The aim is to exclude hazardous substances and recover valuable materials from old appliances.

PC老群,(QQPC28老群)Recycled plastic materials and bio-based materials do not yet have the same technical properties as the new plastic products currently in use. Nevertheless, BSH is examining possible applications of recycled and bio-based materials in various pre-development projects in the product divisions and assessing them in terms of costs and competitive advantages. The aim is to be able to replace crude oil-based plastics in the long term.

Information on Critical Substances

According to Art. 33.1 of the REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006

BSH is conscious of its responsibility to the environment and society – a responsibility that is enshrined in the company's Corporate Principles.

The aim of BSH's environmental policy has always been to fully eliminate especially critical substances in the supply chain as quickly as possible as a precautionary measure. Therefore we do our own research and work closely and regularly with suppliers. These are obligated under Article 33 of the REACH Regulation to provide information concerning substances of very high concern in their products, if those substances are listed in the candidate list and are contained in a concentration of more than 0.1% by weight in products or components.

Substances with notification duties in appliances of BSH:

  • Lead, CAS No. 7439-92-1 may be contained in any home appliance in steel, in aluminium and copper alloys, in high melting temperature type solders, in glass or ceramic of electrical and electronic components as well as in printing inks for the application of enamels on glasses.
  • Lead monoxide, CAS-Nr. 1317-36-8 in electronic components or temperature controls for hobs, Teppan Yaki and hoods.
  • Lead chromate, CAS-Nr. 7758-97-6, in the elektronics of free-standing freezers
  • Lead titanium zirconium oxide, CAS-No. 12626-81-2, in LCD displays of free standing refrigerator-freezer combinations, dishwashers, washing machines and hobs.
  • Boric acid, CAS-Nr. 11113-50-1 oder 10043-35-3, in an electronic component of freestanding refrigerator-freezer combinations.
  • Bisphenol A (4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol), CAS-Nr. 80-05-7, in the control-unit of built-in refrigerator-freezer combinations.
  • Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5), CAS-Nr. 541-02-6, Dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane (D6), CAS-Nr. 540-97-6, und Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4), CAS-Nr. 556-67-2 in silicone seals of built-in freezers and sleeves of washing machines.
  • Dicyclohexyl-phthalate (DCHP), CAS-Nr. 84-61-7, in an electronic component of freestanding refrigerator-freezer combinations.
  • N,N-dimethylacetamide, CAS-Nr. 127-19-5, und 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), CAS-Nr. 872-50-4, in compressors of refrigerators and freezers.
  • 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4,6-ditertpentylphenol (UV-328), CAS No. 25973-55-1 in displays of EQ.3 automatic bean-to-cup coffee machines with product designations TI303503DE, TI303203RW, TI305506DE, TI305206RW, TI313519DE, TI313219RW, TIS30351DE, TIS30321RW and TI303803CN.
  • Terphenyl, hydrogenated, CAS-Nr. 61788-32-7 in the electromechanical temperature controls of ovens and stoves.
  • 1,2-dimethoxyethane (EGDME), CAS No. 110-71-4, in Lithium button cells: in personal and analytical scales, in the filter change indicator of Tassimo capsule machines, in the wireless sensor for induction cooktops.
  • 2-ethylhexyl 10-ethyl-4,4-dioctyl-7-oxo-8-oxa-3,5-dithia-4-stannatetradecanoate (DOTE), in the door handle of free-standing refrigerator-freezer combinations.
  • 2-ethylhexyl 10-ethyl-4,4-dioctyl-7-oxo-8-oxa-3,5-dithia-4-stannatetradecanoate (DOTE), CAS No. 15571-58-1, 4,4‘-isopropylidenediphenol (bisphenol A), CAS-No. 80-05-7, and Lead titanium zirconium oxide, CAS-No. 12626-81-2, in wine storage cabinets with product designations RW404261, RW404761, RW402261 andRW424260 produced until April 2018.

When appliances are used as intended and properly disposed of, their inherent substances do not pose a risk to health or the environment.
